Opportunity:
There is a very high amount of concussions that occur in the NFL, as well as everywhere where there is football: rec leagues, high schools, etc., and this is due to the issues of roughness in the sport, being paired with the inefficiency in safety helmets/gear.
Product/Service:
As it is difficult to completely change a decades old sport in terms of rules and roughness, it's not impossible to change the style or composition of safety gear and helmets for these players. A lot that has to do with getting a concussion in football has to do with the helmet-on-helmet contact and the backlash from it. If there were to be special padding on the outside of the helmets in the particular areas that this happens, this could work towards the prevention of concussions in the sport of football.

ReplyDeleteI really like your post! I couldn't agree with you more about the equipments and that they need to be more protective. The amount of football players that get concussions is far more than people know. The brain suffers serious damages and that how it leads to many cases of football players getting depressed or much worse. I know someone who suffered from this and he is struggling even today from the injuries.

ReplyDeleteYou choose a very good opportunity often overlooked by many. I agree with you that implementing special padding in the helmet might help, but I do think that you might want to come up with another possible solution if the first one does not work in your favour. I think that this is important in entrepreneurship, being able to find multiple possible solutions because issues are bound to arrive with each step.
